Kingpin Skateboard Magazine

I just received the 100th issue of the european skateboard magazine Kingpin. I remember getting contacted by Niall Neeson and Matt Ward some time before the first issue dropped and I’ve had a steady relationship with this amazing magazine ever since. This was my contribution for the very first issue 10 years ago.

I’ve got a lot of catching up to do here. Let’s start with this. Photo of J-mag taken in Avesta in Sweden last summer. Great weekend that ended in some kind of riot, Avesta town vs. the skaters. We survived though.

Manuel Palacios and J-mag

These photos were shot in Algorta 2002 when we for the first time rocked up to La Kantera in our motorhome. The pool was pretty fresh and was a real treat to skate. We parked up right next to the pool and camped out for a few days and had some fantastic sessions with all the locals. Manuel was there doing these fantastic switch lipslides over the deathbox and J-mag didn’t seem to have any problems adapting to this gnarly pool. The shot of Manuel ended up as a poster in french Sugar magazine and the shot of J-mag was in one of the very first issues of swedish Transition. Sweet memories.
